Today I’m sharing a seasonal gift from me – a chance to learn from your year and set yourself up for the next one – a reason to pause in the busy time leading up to Christmas and the start of a New Year.

I’m sharing  6 reflection questions for you to select from when you choose to give yourself a much needed moment for you. There’s one for every two months of the year but you can choose to just answer one or two now to close out your year, or perhaps pick one every other month for next year. They work equally well for your professional life or your personal life – you can choose what lens to apply.

Q1. What has brought you the most joy and fulfilment in the year to date?

What was it about this moment that made it so? What can you learn from this for the future?

Q2. What point in the year to date was the most challenging for you and why?

As you look back now, what can you take from that?

Q3. Looking back over your year so far, what are you grateful for?

What does this tell you about what is important to you? What does this mean, if anything, for any future choices you make?

Q4. What has been your biggest development opportunity in your year to date?

What did you learn? How have you developed? How will this serve you well in the future?

Q5. Looking back over your year, where (if at all) can you now see you could have made a different choice that may have had a better outcome for you?

What led you to make the choice that you did? What do you know now that you probably knew then but didn’t allow to surface?
(This is not about looking back with regret but with curiosity). What, if anything, might you do differently in future?

Q6. What guidance will you give yourself for next year?

Considering your responses to the other questions, what few words or short sentence would sum up your year to date? Given any insights from your reflections, what few words or short sentence do you want to use as your guide for the year ahead?

Invest in you and enjoy taking the time to reflect and set yourself up for great 2023.
